May 26, 1910

Pursuant to a letter dated 21 May 1910 the Commissioners of the Port of Newport, Lincoln County Oregon, who were appointed by the Governor of Oregon, met at the City Hall, at 2 o’clock p.m. for the purpose of perfecting the organization of the Port of Newport, pursuant to Section 8 Chapter 31 of the Session Laws of the State of Oregon 1909.

The Commissioners were called to order by R.A. Bensell.

On roll call the following answered to their names, R.A. Bensell, J.A. Olssen, Ed Stocker, Geo King.

On motion by George King duly seconded by Ed Stocker that each of the members present swear to the following oath

I do solemnly swear that I will support the constitution of the United States, the constitution of the State of Oregon, and that I will faithfully discharge the duties of a member of the commission for the Port of Newport according to the best of my ability so help me God.

The ayes and noes being ordered on the above motion all members of the commission voted in the affirmative, so the chairman declared the motion adopted.

It was then moved by Geo King, seconded by J.A. Olssen, that R.A. Bensell be President of the Commission.

The ayes and noes being ordered on the above motion all members present voted in the affirmative so R.A. Bensell was duly elected President of the Port of Newport Commission.

It was then moved by J.A. Olssen and duly seconded by Ed Stocker that Geo King be elected Vice President.

The ayes and noes being ordered on the above motion all members voted in the affirmative and the President declared Geo King duly elected as Vice President.

It was then moved by George King and duly seconded by J.A. Olssen that Ed Stocker be elected as Treasurer.

The ayes and noes being ordered on the foregoing motion all members present voted in the affirmative so the President declared Ed Stocker duly elected Treasurer.

It was then moved by Geo King and duly seconded by J.A. Olssen that Thos Leese be appointed Secretary.

The ayes and noes being ordered on the foregoing motion all members present voted in the affirmative so the President declared Thos Leese duly elected Secretary.

On motion of Geo King seconded by J.A. Olssen that the next regular meeting be held at City Hall Newport on Tuesday the 28th day of June a 6 o’clock p.m.

The ayes and noes being ordered on the above motion all members present voted in the affirmative so the President declared the motion adopted.

On motion of J.A. Olssen seconded by Geo King that the President appoint a committee of three to draw up a set of by laws governing the Port of Newport.

The ayes and noes being ordered on the above motion all members present voted in the affirmative so the President declared the motion adopted.

The President then appointed Ed Stocker, Thos Leese, J.A. Olssen on said committee.

On motion of J.A. Olssen seconded by Ed Stocker that the Secretary be instructed to purchase all books and materials necessary for his office.

The ayes and noes being ordered on the above motion all members presented voted in the affirmative so the President declared the motion carried.

On motion of J.A. Olssen seconded by Ed Stocker that this meeting do now
adjourn until 6 o’clock p.m. 28th June 1910.
